| The price of hearing aids! |
|
Buying direct is a great idea! You get the exact same aid, but at a drastically lower price! Since behind-the-ear hearing aids are one-size-fits-all, we can purchase them in bulk, which greatly reduces the price. We have also negotiated the lowest possible price with the manufacturers, and pass these savings on to you, too.
Because our prices are so much lower than everyone else, we frequently are asked if the aids are new or used. Rest assured, ALL of our aids are brand new, ordered fresh from the original manufacturer, and come with a two or three year warranty. Feel free to call the Better Business Bureau and ask for a report. We have never had one single complaint in over 15 years (except from our competitors!).
Remember though, if you are going to purchase a hearing aid online, you should only buy Behind The Ear (BTE) models. In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids need more fine tuning (for occlusion and feedback), which would be extremely difficult to do long distance. ITE aids are also less reliable than BTE hearing aids because the ITEs are subjected to more heat and ear wax.
If you order a standard BTE hearing aid, all you have to do is plug the new aid into your existing ear mold or you can order the phenomenal new Comfort Ear ( www.earmold.org) . Some patients will choose to get a new custom earmold made, and we can help you with that, also. Many patients can wear the new Open Ear aids that don't require an earmold.
If you are replacing a lost aid, we usually recommend that you order the same brand and model that you lost, unless it was no longer working effectively for your current loss.
It is required that you speak with one of our hearing aid specialists before you order an aid from us, to make sure you get the most appropriate aid for your current loss and your budget. You will need to get your hearing retested, if it has been over 6 months since your last hearing test.
Hearing aid purchases are regulated by the Food and Drug Administration, so before you can order a hearing aid you must read and sign the proper documents (click on the "FDA Waiver" button on the left). If you have any questions, call our toll-free number.
